Dr. Nancy Zimmerman named AASL 2008 Distinguished Service Award recipient

The American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is pleased to announce Dr. Nancy P. Zimmerman as the recipient of the 2008 Distinguished Service Award. Zimmerman, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs of The Graduate School and an associate professor in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina, will receive the award at the AASL Awards Luncheon during the 2008 ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim.

Six SC Organizations Receive National Arts Grants

The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded grants totaling $946,700 to six South Carolina organizations during its second round of fiscal 2008 funding. The grants are a part of $77.4 million in grants that the NEA is distributing to arts organizations throughout the country this quarter to support excellence in the arts, bring the arts to all Americans and provide leadership in arts in education.
